What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at BX Civil & Construction?
The Project Manager assists with estimating and business development; performs all preconstruction activities; directs and coordinates activities of designated projects; coordinates employees and equipment resources for assigned projects; provides direct employee management and development of team subordinates.
Preconstruction Management of Assigned Projects
- Accountable for pre-construction planning such as purchase orders, subcontracts, job cost set-up and material submittals.
- Review project proposal and/or plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
Project Management of Assigned Projects:
- Provide ongoing support to ensure quality work and adherence to project specifications.
- Review job information submitted by field supervisors, including payroll, production, safety, and employee concerns.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, inspectors, and suppliers to address construction issues and improve methods.
- Ensure project activities comply with government regulations, contract specifications, and company policies.
- Create and manage project schedules for engineers and owners.
- Secure required permits and oversee job site preparation.
- Coordinate with internal teams (supervisors, other project managers, administration, operations) to ensure project progress and completion.
- Complete project reports, including weekly production and billing sheets.
- Ensure AP invoices are coded, approved, and processed on time with correct prices and quantities.
- Organize and submit tickets, tags, and stockpile requests for payment.
- Manage job costs and work-in-process costs within the budget.
Internal Company Coordination of Employees and Equipment
- Ensure appropriate tools, materials and equipment are available on schedule according to project needs, including rental equipment
- Work collaboratively with both internal and external parties to maximize equipment and personnel efficiencies and optimize utilization of both
Estimating and Business Development
- Assist in estimating project costs using company software and preparing bid proposals in the required format.
- Collaborate with the Estimator and other team members to ensure pricing consistency while helping identify new business opportunities and revenue streams.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 4-5 years of equivalent experience in the industry.
- Good driving record required; CDL preferred.
- Proficient with technology, including computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Must be skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and job costing software.
- Willing to travel within the region; overnight stays may be required.
- Must be able to work in the US and pass a drug screen and background check. We use E-Verify.

- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Regular exposure to mechanical parts, high places, outdoor conditions (extreme cold/heat), and loud noise.
