Byco Enterprises, Inc. is accepting applications for a full-time and experienced Fleet Manager. The Fleet manager will be responsible for making repair and maintenance suggestions to the supervisors. The suggestions will be made in the best long term interests of the company. The fleet manager will also supervise and assist the fleet mechanic(s) as necessary with repairs of equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Must adhere to all company and customer safety rules and regulations regarding Personal Protection Equipment and Safe Practices.

· Must adhere to the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety gear, hard hats, and procedures.

· Inspect bulldozers, graders, and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance, and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.

· Work with Excavation Supervisor to schedule equipment down time and prioritize repairs.

· Monitor and maintain DOT PM inspections

· Document repairs and costs in company files.

· Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.

· Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools.

· Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications.

· Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.

· Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, and hammers.

· Perform repair work on heavy trucks.

· Carrying a wide variety of materials and tools.

· Operating equipment such as saws, compaction equipment, skid steers, and light vehicles.

· Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on site quickly and amicably.

· Timely submission of service documentation necessary for accounting and inventory management.

· Ensure policies in BYCO Enterprises’ employee handbook are being followed, i.e. monitor time spent on breaks, arrival times, departure time, equipment idle times, etc.

· Performing other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Foreman, Managers, or Supervisors.

Requirements and Qualifications

· High school diploma and 2 or more years in the Heavy Equipment Mechanic trade preferred.

· Must always be able to professionally represent yourself and your company.

· Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others.

· Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

· Ability to communicate and report effectively with management and fellow employees.

· The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the Mechanic to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

· Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least ten (10) hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform key Duties.

· Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, more.

· Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.

· Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.

· Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.

· Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 12 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required.

· Sufficient skill and visual acuity, under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions, to provide direction and flagging for equipment operators.

· Maintain certifications and understanding to operate equipment under the Foreman’s directive.

· The mechanic must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.

· Work is performed indoors or outdoors and in all weather conditions.

· Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that are typically associated with a construction project.

· Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

· Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, ready mixed concrete, raw and processed sewage, and water processing chemicals.

· Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include weekend and after-hours.

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
