POSITION SUMMARY
BYLT Premium Basics is a dynamic and rapidly growing apparel company known for its innovative designs and premium quality products. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join our team. This is a key leadership role that will contribute to the company’s overall financial strategy, support operational decision making and drive financial performance.
As the Director of FP&A, you will lead and oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the company. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, marketing, and other departments to provide actionable insights that inform strategic decisions. You will also be responsible for optimizing financial processes, improving reporting capabilities, and ensuring the company’s financial health aligns with its business goals and growth trajectory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning, Strategy, Reporting and Analysis:
- Lead the development of the annual budget, long-term financial forecasts, and strategic plans.
- Work with senior leadership to align financial goals with business objectives and growth strategies.
- Provide regular, detailed financial reporting and analysis, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis
- Identify key performance indicators to measure financial performance and operational effectiveness
- Oversee the preparation of rolling forecasts, ensuring that all assumptions and variables are clearly articulated and that forecasts are aligned with business goals
- Act as a key partner to business leaders to support decision making and ensure financial insights are integrated into day-to-day operations
- Analyze trends, market conditions, and operational metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
- Provide recommendations for improvement and support key business initiatives such as cost optimization and margin expansion
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify cost saving initiatives, optimize spending, and improve operational efficiency
- Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and developing their skills for career growth
- Oversee and drive improvements in financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring that data is accurate, timely and actionable for stakeholders across the organization
- Provide financial analysis and decision support for ad hoc projects, business case evaluations and other special requests from leadership
Merchandise Planning and Inventory Management:
- Collaborate closely with the merchandising team to develop financial plans and forecasts for seasonal and annual product assortments.
- Analyze and provide insights on sales trends, inventory turnover, and product margins to optimize product assortment and pricing strategies.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure optimal inventory levels, reduce markdowns, and support profitability.
- Provide financial oversight on merchandise purchasing and pricing strategies, ensuring that financial objectives are met while minimizing risk and maximizing gross margin.
- Evaluate inventory aging reports and product lifecycle analysis to ensure financial alignment with the company’s demand forecasts and merchandising objectives.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; MBA or CFA designation is a plus
- 5 year’s work experience, preferably in FP&A group at an apparel company
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of business strategies and drivers
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and performance reporting
- Demonstrated skills in fact-based analysis and presentation
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders
- Possess sound judgment and know when to escalate issues
- Experience and ability to develop and maintain complex financial models generate and key insights
- Strong work ethic with the ability to effectively juggle competing priorities and demands using good time management and communication skills
- Maintain a positive, flexible, client-service attitude with business teams
- A hands-on, take-charge financial professional with strong financial and analytical skills
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Strong business and common sense
