Overview : Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the daily accounting functions as well as developing, documenting and improving processes to increase effectiveness. This position also ensures the accounting team has timely and accurate period, quarterly, and annual financial closings. This position is responsible for direction and management of staff and is expected to foster a positive team environment. This position is one of multiple accounting manager positions, and will also handle the technical accounting related to compensation, business operations, purchase accounting, or specific topics as assigned.
Responsibilities : Essential Functions
- Manages 3-5 members of the accounting team
- Works with other Accounting Manager(s) to provide positive, consistent GL team experience
- Manages and executes month-end close processes to ensure financial data in compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Reviews account reconciliations for appropriate completion and adherence with US GAAP
- Reviews and approves complex journal entries for appropriate support and adherence with US GAAP
- Works cross functionally to strengthen the internal control environment
- Leads efforts to improve or simplify current processes
- Provides updates to the Accounting Director and other management personnel on any accounting issues that need attention and takes lead accounting role on projects and accounting changes
- Partners with other departments in the organization on compensation program changes, new system implementations and acquisition integrations
- Leads and / or participates in accounting team meetings to ensure consistent communication among all team members
- Participates in internal meetings regarding new deals with unique accounting requirements to ensure the requirements are understood, followed, and reported accurately
- Completes all aspects of personnel management for the accounting team including interviewing, hiring, goal-setting, performance reviews, coaching and development, and corrective action (as needed)
- Works with internal and / or external auditors as needed
