Primary Purpose
The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the entire logistics process, including inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, managing logistics staff, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Reporting to the Director of Logistics & Global Sourcing, the Logistics Manager plays a key role in ensuring products are delivered on time, within budget, and in good condition to meet customer demands and company objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Logistics Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day logistics operations, including warehousing, inventory management, and transportation to meet delivery schedules.
- Ensure optimal levels of stock are maintained by monitoring and forecasting inventory needs.
- Implement strategies to optimize logistics processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery efficiency.
- Function as liaison for company on all imports including HTS classification and assignment, container scheduling, onboarding, and routing.
2. Vendor and Carrier Management:
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and carriers to ensure timely shipment and delivery of goods.
• Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with logistics service providers to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Evaluate and manage carrier performance, addressing issues as they arise to maintain service standards.
3. Inventory Control and Warehouse Management:
• Oversee inventory control procedures, ensuring accuracy in inventory levels and reducing the risk of stockouts or overstock.
• Manage warehouse operations, including layout optimization, inventory tracking, and safety protocols.
• Implement best practices to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
4. Budgeting and Cost Control:
• Manage and track logistics expenses, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Prepare and monitor logistics budgets, ensuring spending aligns with operational and financial targets.
• Analyze logistics costs, prepare reports, and present insights and recommendations to senior management.
5. Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure all logistics activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain safety standards within warehouses and transportation practices to ensure a safe working environment.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead, coach, and develop the logistics team.
• Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment, ensuring effective communication across the team.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Comprehensive knowledge of the products Country Supplier sells.
• Perform daily cleaning – such as, but not limited to, vacuuming, replacing full trashes with new trash bags, and sweeping.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
• Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS systems); understanding of warehouse and transportation best practices.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
