Position Overview:
As the HR Generalist at C&C Disposal, you’ll play a key role in shaping the employee experience—from hiring and onboarding to compliance and development. This is a hands-on position that supports both our office and field employees, with a focus on practical, people-first HR practices. You’ll be the go-to person for all things HR, helping us stay organized, compliant, and connected as a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Hiring
- Manage end-to-end hiring for drivers, laborers, and office staff
- Post jobs, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and manage offers
- Coordinate onboarding, orientations, and safety training
- Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted resource for employees with HR-related questions or concerns
- Support positive employee relations, address conflicts, and assist with performance management
- Help foster a respectful, team-based culture in alignment with C&C values
- Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with employment laws and DOT/OSHA regulations
- Track and manage CDL licenses, DOT med cards, safety certifications, and training records
- Assist with audits, inspections, and insurance documentation
- Payroll & Benefits Support
- Partner with payroll service to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Coordinate benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and open enrollment
- Track PTO and leave requests, including FMLA and workers’ comp cases
- Training & Development
- Schedule and track required training, including safety and compliance sessions
- Assist with cross-training and employee development plans
- HR Administration
- Keep employee handbook and HR policies up to date
- Support internal communication and help with team events or recognition programs
Qualifications:
- 2 years of HR experience, ideally in a blue-collar, small business environment
- Working knowledge of HR compliance (FMLA, EEO, OSHA, DOT)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Gusto, BambooHR, or similar HR systems is a plus
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Bonus Points:
- Experience in waste management, logistics, or construction industries
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a bonus but not required
