Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
Location: This is an on-site position located in Ottumwa, Iowa
S2 Manufacturing, an industry-leading company based in Ottumwa, IA, is seeking a detail-oriented Supply Chain Manager to join our team. The supply chain manager oversees the entire flow of goods from suppliers to customers, optimizing transportation routes, managing inventory levels, selecting logistics providers, coordinating warehousing and distribution centers, and ensuring timely deliveries while minimizing costs, all while collaborating with vendors to maintain quality and safety standards throughout the supply chain process.
Responsibilities:
- Procurement:
Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
- Inventory Management:
Analyze vendor pricing, supply agreements, selection of suppliers and overall strategic direction for purchased components.
Performs analysis of past usage, current demand, and sales forecasts to develop stocking levels, replenishment strategies and requirements planning for direct and indirect materials.
Monitor stock levels, forecast demand, and optimize inventory to avoid overstocking or shortages.
- Data Analysis:
Utilize data to monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
Work closely with the General Manager and Internal Logistics Manager to ensure production schedules are met and customer requirements are satisfied.
- Logistics Management:
Arrange transportation, selecting carriers, optimizing delivery routes, and tracking shipments.
Collaborate with engineering and production staff to identify cost reduction opportunities and coordinate engineering changes with minimal creation of scrap or obsolete stock.
- Quality Control:
Ensure products meet quality standards throughout the supply chain.
Work with production, quality and engineering to resolve vendor quality issues and implement procedures to eliminate future occurrences.
- Cost Optimization:
Analyze supply chain costs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Warehousing and Distribution:
Coordinate with purchasing and logistics team members to manage storage space, and coordinate product distribution to customers.
- Risk Management:
Identify potential disruptions in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
- Compliance Management:
Adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Qualifications and skills
- Analytical skills: Ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

- Technical proficiency: Familiarity with supply chain management software and systems, including MS Excel and Word
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field with five years of experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain organizations, including supervisory experience, is preferred.
- Prior experience with heavy equipment manufacturing and structural steel manufacturing will be helpful but not required.
- CPIM Certification is preferred but not required.
Travel
- Up to 15% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
