POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Transportation Director will play a critical leadership role in overseeing and optimizing all aspects of C&C Produce's transportation operations. This position is responsible for ensuring timely, cost-efficient, and safe delivery of products to customers, while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. The Senior Transportation Director will also lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, develop and mentor team members, and align transportation strategies with the company's overall business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational Leadership:
- Oversee day-to-day transportation operations, including route planning, fleet management, and driver performance.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Monitor and improve safety protocols to minimize incidents and maintain a culture of safety.
- Team Development:
- Lead and mentor transportation managers, dispatchers, and drivers to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Establish clear performance metrics and provide regular feedback.
- Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the transportation department's budget, including labor, fuel, maintenance, and equipment costs.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
- Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term transportation strategies that support company growth.
- Analyze data and KPIs to drive continuous improvement in operations.
- Vendor and Partner Relations:
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, maintenance vendors, and equipment suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure high-quality service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Prior experience managing 80 CDL A, B, and Non-CDL Route Delivery Drivers servicing Midwest customers.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet management, and logistics technology.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams while driving process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and overall effectiveness.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), OmniTracks, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Holding a CDL A license is a plus but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Ability to travel as needed to visit company sites, vendors, or industry events.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Office environment with occasional visits to warehouse and fleet areas. A flexible schedule may be required to meet business needs.
