The Role
The Non-ferrous Scale Operator is an hourly position responsible for daily non-ferrous scale operations at C&D Scrap Metal Recyclers, including accurately weighing inbound loads, communicating with the non-ferrous warehouse to ensure accuracy in grading and adjustments. The role involves closing out outstanding tickets, ensuring traffic flow, following morning and closing procedures and working at the direction of direct report. The Non-ferrous Scale Operator reports directly to the Cash Office & Scale Lead and oversees scalemen/general laborers at the non-ferrous purchasing area. The Non-ferrous Scale Operator is responsible for maintaining a clean environment and identifying opportunities for material upgrades. The role involves keeping a running inventory of any material transfers (upgrades & downgrades) and ensuring all purchased non-ferrous materials are presented to the warehouse as “finished goods” or ship ready quality.

Responsibilities
- Report directly to, and work at the direction of the Cash Office & Scale Lead.
- Accurately weighing inbound loads.
- Communicating with the operation to ensure accuracy in all loads and shipments.
- Communicating with the buying staff on pricing for customer needs as required.
- Overseeing shipping related to scale operations.
- Complying with state and city regulations related to the material and customer processing activities.
- All other responsibilities that may be determined as relevant to the role.
Location & commitments
- Full-time.
- Some travel to satellite locations may be required.
Candidate requirements
- Bilingual is required.
- Customer service skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with basic Office programs, including the ability to learn Green Spark software.
Expected hours: 36 – 45 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Every weekend
- Monday to Friday
