Job Summary
The Communications Specialist will provide day-to-day communications support for employee messaging, including topics related to Human Resources, operations, employee engagement, and other institutional priorities. This role will also collaborate with other stakeholders in the Department of Communication and throughout the organization as needed.
This role will report directly to the Dr. Director, Internal and Executive Communication, in the Department of Communication, and be a part of the employee communications team within the Department of Communication. More informally, the position will partner closely with team members in Human Resources, Operations, and Communications to ensure alignment on common goals and strategic initiatives for the organization.

Responsibilities*

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Responsibilities*
- Provide general communications support for the select employee messaging, including those related to Human Resources, Operations and Employee engagement.
- Develop and oversee communication plans for specific initiatives to elevate employee messaging and content.
- Craft leadership messaging for Headlines, SharePoint and all internal-facing communication channels.
- Partner with creative service team and web teams to utilize digital, web and social media outlets to amplify employee messaging.
- Continually seek feedback from leadership and staff to ensure strategies and messaging are compelling, relevant, and timely.
- Develop data driven communication goals and metrics to track effectiveness and successful messaging.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from leaders and other stakeholders.

- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in communication-related field, such as journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or other relevant field.
- Proven experience generating client satisfaction and developing solutions in complex matrixed organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with understanding of digital media.
- Advance Microsoft Office skills needed to develop newsletters, presentations, fliers, etc.
- Experience maintaining electronic communication vehicles, websites, blogs, social media.
- Ability to work well with others and oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to receive and accept constructive feedback for professional growth and career advancement.
- Flexibility in work schedule for primarily remote work and on-site presence as needed.
- Direct experience working in a health care and/or academic medical center.
