What are the responsibilities and job description for the UNIV - Post Doctoral Scholar (Research) - Department of Pathology and Laboratory position at C001 Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC - Univ)?

Job Description Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented research scholar to study the role of cellular senescence in brain aging and AD pathogenesis. A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the implications of senescent cells in AD, and a set of senolytic drugs are being tested in clinical trials for AD treatment (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10168460/). However, the precise cellular and molecular mechanisms by which age associated accumulation of senescent cells in the brain affect AD pathogenesis and progression have yet to be determined. The successful candidate will utilize an array of state-of-the-art technologies and systems biology approach, including cellular & molecular biology techniques, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial proteomics, RNAscope, neuropathology, supper-resolution confocal microscopy, and AD animal models, to delineate how senescent cells modulate neuroinflammation, AD pathology, and cognitive function in preclinical AD animal models.
