Job Summary
The Controller at CATS will be responsible for preparing the month end close, financial audits quarterly and yearly, preparing, examine, or analyze accounting records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department
Enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
Manage Month End Close with the following :
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
Cash Receipts
General Ledger Entries
Payroll Reconciliations / Labor Posting Bi-Weekly
Capital Assets Reconciliations
Bank Accounts Reconciliations
Check Runs Validation
Fixed Asset Activity
Manage Year End Close and System close out.
Supports contract reconciliation and close out.
Assist with Quarterly Financial Review Audits and Year-end Audit.
Develop / improve business processes to be more effective and efficient while still ensuring compliance with norms and regulations.
Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing project accountant.
Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures.
Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
Provides month-end reports to CFO for review
Supervise the project accountant, validate, and approve monthly entries.
Additional tasks may be assigned as requested.
Basic Employment Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5-10 years related experience
CPA preferred
Thorough knowledge of Department of Defense experience, preferred
Thorough knowledge of FAR, GAAP, DSCA guidelines
Thorough knowledge of transaction flow in a manufacturing environment
Thorough knowledge of ERP system transaction flow, Syteline preferred
Working knowledge of Earned Value Management and program controls
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs : Word, Excel, Power Point
