CAD Specialist

Essential Job Specific Duties:

1. Create and maintain engineering documentation such as drawings, and BOMS using AutoCad, SolidWorks, and company’s ERP System.
2. Create DFX drawings of parts and assemblies consistent with customer or internal specifications.
3. Interpreting customer technical specifications sufficiently well to produce customer quotations.
4. Develop 2D Cam programs for burn table and weld robots.
5. Prepare nest files for production.
6. Provide timely correspondence internally and to assigned customers as required.
7. Select hardware and other standard components for new designs
8. Assign tolerance of specific parts per prescribed standards using tolerance analysis software
9. Participate in design review as necessary.
10. Work with Engineering as necessary to obtain material requirements to meet codes and specifications.
11. May write engineering change orders to improve/correct production documentation.
12. Perform all operations according to prescribed safety principles.
13. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• Two- or Four-Year Degree in Drafting, Design, or Engineering
• SolidWorks experience is highly preferred
• Knowledge of ASME
• AutoCAD experience
• Compress experience
• Good working knowledge of welding, machining, rolling, forming and shape cutting practices.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected with minimal supervision.
• Capable of developing conceptual designs of complex weldment tooling.
• Capable of understanding complex mechanical drawings.
• Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and ERP systems.
• Good understanding of the applications of LEAN concepts in a job shop environment.
