Provides assistance to the department /office by receiving and screening employee's, answering incoming phone calls, greeting customers, answering various questions and/or referring customers to the appropriate person or team. Processing incoming and outgoing mail by categorizing, date stamping, and routing materials to appropriate staff. Managing group email in-boxes and disseminates and/or responds to inquiries. This position is clerical based.


This position works a maximum of 130 hours per month or 1500 hours per year. Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position. Must be regularly available and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the business needs. Mechanical and Technical Occupational Trainee is a non-testing temporary appointment class. It is designed to provide persons an opportunity to develop skill which will facilitate their permanent entry into State service.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

This is a non-testing Classification, therefore, anyone meeting the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification may apply for this position.
