Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Work Comp Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and administering the occupational sector of the clinic and ensuring they align with organizational goals and comply with legal standards. This position requires strong data analysis skills, proficiency, and the ability to effectively communicate with patients, and adjustors/insurance companies regarding request for authorization.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of workers' compensation claims for our patients, ensuring timely and accurate processing, and maintaining effective communication with insurance companies, employers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
In this position you must follow all HIPPA rules and regulations.
Duties
- Basic medical terminology related to the cause and treatment of occupational injuries and diseases
- Practices and procedures of claims management including investigation and evaluation
- Receiving and reviewing orders for treatment submitted by employers
- verifying eligibility, gathering medical documentation, communicating with insurance companies
- Verifying status and injury details with employers
- Processing request for authorization and ensuing it is approved by the adjustor in a timely manner
- Explaining the workers' compensation process to patients and answering questions regarding their claims.
- Obtaining necessary patient information and consents for treatment.
- Staying updated on state workers' compensation laws and regulations.
- Ensuring proper coding and billing practices for workers' compensation claims.
- Contacting insurance companies or claims adjusters to initiate claims, update status, and address inquiries.
- Obtaining necessary authorizations for treatment and referrals to specialists.
- Collaborating with medical providers and employers to develop appropriate return-to-work plans.
- Monitoring patient progress and communicating updates to relevant parties.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies
- Attention to detail for accurate data entry and claim submission
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and billing systems
- Strong knowledge of benefits administration practices.
- Proficiency in EMR system (eClinical) and Daisy Bill is highly desirable.
- Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex information effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on fostering positive employer relations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Hight Degree is a must
- Some college preferred
Relevant experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in urgent care or occupational medicine
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices
- Background in claims processing or workers' compensation administration
