Under the general direction of the Executive Director and the Staff Services Manager II (SSMII), this position performs more complex analytical duties for the California School Finance Authority’s Charter School Facilities Incentive Grant Program, reviews operational and financial documents and determines eligibility per established statutory and regulatory requirements and prepares summary reports thereon for the Authority; provides technical review of grant documents to ensure that the interests of the State and investors are protected; and interfaces with the public and provides information regarding the program. This position also may perform duties related to all of the Authority’s programs, from time to time, as needed and directed by the Executive Director.

Department Information

The California School Finance Authority (CSFA) was created in 1985 to finance educational facilities and provide school districts and community college districts access to working capital. Since its inception, the Authority has developed a number of financing programs primarily focused on assisting school districts, and non-profit borrowers with meeting their working capital and facility needs.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience reviewing grant or loan applications, including financial data analysis, to support award decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining complex financial spreadsheets.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial and programmatic data.
  • Ability to provide applicant support, ensuring timely and complete application submissions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of public finance, charter school funding, or state grant/loan programs is a plus.
