Exposition Park seeks a dynamic and experienced Event Coordinator who can thrive in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. Both customer-focused and business-minded, the Event Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for the use of State property for filming, concerts, community gatherings, sporting activities, and parking. The position requires a high-degree of customer service, responsiveness, accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, and independence.

Department Information

The Office of Exposition Park Management (OEPM) is a state department within the California Natural Resources Agency, under the direction of a General Manager, appointed by the Governor. Exposition Park is a 160-acre state property in the heart of Los Angeles, south of downtown. The Park serves millions of visitors annually and is home to a collection of world-class museums, educational and sport facilities, and entertainment venues and open space publicly accessible to over half a million individuals who live within a three-mile radius, and to the millions of residents in the greater Los Angeles area.

The Office of Exposition Park Management's (OEPM) Mission is to provide long-term executive leadership in the development and implementation of park usage policy and day-to-day management, operation, and promotion of Exposition Park for its tenants and the public. In addition to their park-wide supervisory and administrative role, OEPM is supported by three branches: Department of Public Safety; Business and Public Affairs; and Administration and Operations, including fiscal operations.

Special Requirements

SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Temporary Appointments may be considered if conditions warrant. Temporary Appointments may be made to anyone regardless of eligibility. Temporary Appointments may not exceed 9 months and will require eligibility to be obtained through an examination process in order to transition to a permanent appointment.

  • Skilled in using tact and good judgment when communicating and collaborating with customers, co-workers, management, and representatives from other government agencies.
  • Bilingual Spanish fluency/speaker

TAU Appointment May Be Considered
What Is A TAU? Temporary Authorization Utilization (TAU): Appointments in a temporary, full-time position that are not hired from a civil service employment list.

When no eligible list exists for the classification of the vacant position, at the time when an employee is needed, this type of TAU appointment is utilized.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the class. Employees hired in lieu of a permanent are permitted to work up to nine (9) months pending the completion of a new examination for the class.

A TAU in lieu of permanent appointment triggers an examination. The hiring department will host an examination within 2-3 months of the expiration of the appointment. Therefore, the employee should be made aware of this and is encouraged to compete in the examination. The employee must successfully compete in the examination and be reachable in order to continue employment beyond the 9 month limit.

TAU employees are not permanent and do not serve a probationary period.
