Position : CTE Curriculum and Career Development Coordinator

Salary : Teacher Salary Schedule

Term of Employment : 11 Months

Reports To : Career and Technical Education Director

Job Goals :

The Curriculum and Career Development Coordinator will provide comprehensive support for non-traditional schools within Cabarrus County Schools, focusing on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, career development services, and work-based learning opportunities. This role ensures the effective implementation of instructional resources, professional development, and career readiness initiatives to enhance student outcomes. By collaborating with administrators, educators, parents, businesses, and community organizations, the CTE Curriculum and Career Development Coordinator prepares students for success in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers in a global economy.

Qualifications and Attributes :

  • Eligible for the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) License (747) or hold a Bachelor's Degree with one of the following credentials :
  • Current continuing professional teaching license in any CTE area.
  • Current continuing professional license as Curriculum Instructional Specialist, Instructional Technology Specialist, or School Administrator.
  • Current Continuing Professional license as a School Counselor at the G level
  • Three (3) years of related work experience within the past five (5) years preferred
  • Knowledge of work-based learning practices, innovative strategies, and research-based methods to improve student achievement.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Completion of the NCDPI-sponsored FCD and CIMC Induction Programs preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Curriculum Management :

  • Maintain expertise in CTE Essential Standards, state graduation requirements, and course information reports available in NCCTE Admin.
  • Assist teachers with locating and utilizing instructional resources, such as course blueprints, curriculum guides, and proof-of-learning guides.
  • Facilitate understanding and application of CTE pathways, programs of study, and credential opportunities.
  • Provide professional development and instructional coaching to enhance teaching practices and performance indicators.
  • Stay informed on innovative instructional strategies and promising practices in CTE.
  • Career Development and Work-Based Learning Coordination :

  • Coordinate work-based learning opportunities, including career fairs, college fairs, guest speakers, and employability skill activities.
  • Support career awareness, exploration, and planning for middle and high school students.
  • Develop partnerships with businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions to enhance career pathways.
  • Instructional Support :

  • Provide ongoing professional development to support continuous improvement of performance indicators.
  • Encourage and support instructional improvement through coaching and training in effective education design and delivery.
  • Assist teachers in understanding the CTE Status of Curriculum and Assessment (SOCA), including course codes, course statuses, aligned POL, and teacher effectiveness models.
  • Data Validation and Reporting :

  • Understand Perkins V legislation and coordinate the collection and reporting of CTE-related data, including concentrator status and performance measures.
  • Assist stakeholders with accessing, analyzing, and using data to inform instructional and career development practices.
  • Maintain thorough records and generate reports to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development of the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) to identify gaps, evaluate program effectiveness, and prioritize funding to align CTE programs with local workforce demands and student needs.
  • Professional Collaboration and Networking :

  • Network with Career Development Coordinators, Special Populations Coordinators, and other stakeholders at local, regional, state, and national levels.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on trends in education, workforce demands, and emerging careers.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Ensure adherence to established laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Interact effectively with students, parents, educators, and community members.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Physical and Special Requirements :

  • Ability to perform tasks involving sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motions.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and have the capacity to travel for job-related purposes.
