PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
The Lead Finisher is responsible for producing quality finish coatings on cabinetry and millwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Performs in all the functions and performance areas of an Assistant Finisher.
- Applies quality finish coatings on cabinetry and millwork using a variety of machinery, tools and hand application techniques.
- Creates custom colors and finishes by mixing finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades.
- Create control samples for Project Managers, customers and internal Quality Control checks.
- Trains and tutors Assistant Finishers.
- Repairs and refinishes damaged cabinetry and finishes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Ability to read and understand parts and material list.
- Ability to read and understand plans which detail the layout and appearance of cabinetry and closets.
- Ability to perform basic computer and phone applications for timekeeping and task tracking purposes.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team to meet production timelines.
- Proven ability to manage time and multitask.
- Ability to teach and mentor staff.
- Proficient in all aspects of sanding, staining and finishing, preferably in production settings and/ or architectural millwork pieces.
- Able to stain, paint, glaze, and topcoat to achieve quality finishes.
- Able to mix stains and pigmented lacquer.
- Ability to match control samples.
- Strong understanding of conversion varnish post cat finishes required.
- Knowledge of various finishing techniques and products.
- Knowledge of touch up techniques on various materials and finishes.
- Knowledge of spraying/finishing room equipment.
- Experience in custom color mixing.
- Experience in brush, spray, or hand applied finishes (primer, paint, stain, oil, lacquers, sealers, toners and other)
- Ability to work with air assisted and airless paint equipment.
- Ability to manipulate and create custom stain colors through multi-step finish processes.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as it relates to finishing.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions and short correspondence.
- Ability to identify defects in raw material, construction techniques and finish coatings.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to think critically to identify and solve problems.

Working Conditions
The work environment is typically a manufacturing environment. The work environment may include exposure to temperature variations and humidity. May be exposed to loud noises, dust particles and cleaning solutions or other substances. Travel to site visits may be necessary. Accessing company email may be required on personal device.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
