JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for the final concrete pavement quality. Know or train how to properly finish concrete. Thoroughly understand all requirements of the project you are paving edge slump, vertical face, pavement thickness, offset, profile offset, smoothness, surface grout depth, consolidation, and surface. Understanding concrete slip-form paving is a huge plus.
- Good communication skills are required and an ability to focus on tasks at hand, be a self-motivator, and to work well with others.
- Construction background required, prefer flatwork paving or heavy/highway construction experience. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner under varying weather conditions, while exposed to dampness, fumes, dust, electrical, mechanical and traffic hazards is a plus.
- Communicate with foreman and coworkers to the daily job specifications.
- Perform general labor duties when necessary and work with labor crew when not finishing or operating equipment.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
- Work with powered and non-powered hand tools (i.e., rakes, shovels, etc.).
- Work in a variety of positions throughout the day including standing, stooping, bending at the waist, at waist level, shoulder height and above the head.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel with some overnights possible.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions including hot and cold temperatures and humidity.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used on construction projects.
- Ability to properly follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA requirements for safe working procedures and environments.
- Willingness to undergo a background check, physical, drug, and alcohol testing.
