Drafting Supervisor

CAD Control Systems, a leader in the development, design, and manufacturing of BOP Control Systems, is seeking a skilled, motivated, and dependable Drafting Supervisor to join our team in Broussard, LA. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate production of technical drawings and plans by managing workflow, reviewing designs, providing technical guidance, training and overseeing drafters, coordinating with engineers to meet project deadlines and quality standards, and utilizing Autodesk software proficiently to maintain design integrity across projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize 3-D modeling software Autodesk Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D software tools to achieve desired output.
• Make final proposed drawing checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure of project.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Assist in design and component selection.
• General arrangement drawings in 2D & 3D, Electrical Schematics, Panel layouts, Fabrication drawings.
• Supervise other drafters, assigning tasks based on project requirements and individual skillsets.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand design intent and ensure drafting aligns with project goals.
• Manage project timelines, prioritize work and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
• Provide ongoing training to drafters of new CAD software, industry standards and best practices.
• Establish and maintain drafting standards, templates and procedures for consistent quality.
• Identify and resolve drafting issues, technical challenges and discrepancies in drawings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required and an associate’s degree or certificate in drafting or related field.
• Several years of experience as a drafter, with supervisory experience preferred.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications and Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to interact with all customers and vendors, and possess excellent project management skills.
• Must have ability to manage multiple complicated tasks, prioritize, and be detail oriented.
• High level of accuracy and meticulousness in reviewing drawings and technical specifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:

Environment: Work is performed in an indoor office environment. Exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, noxious odors, mechanical and electrical hazards, burns and temperature conditions may occur.

Physical: Primary functions require physical ability and mobility to sit, walk and stand frequently; to frequently lift, carry, push, twist, turn, bend, crouch, kneel, reach, grasp, handle, feel and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to occasionally climb on ladders or stairs. This position may have occasional exposure to pinch points and moving objects. This position requires constant eye-hand coordination and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to exchange information. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel toe shoes and safety glasses, must be always worn while in the indoor/outdoor shop environment.

Vision: See near/far with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
