Through community engagement, advocacy, and therapeutic support, we strive to address the critical issues of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking across nine counties in south central Minnesota.
Summary
This is a temporary position that runs until September 2nd. As a Shelter Advocate at CADA, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. This position involves providing direct assistance to clients in our shelter, advocating for their needs, and helping them navigate available resources. Your contributions will be essential in fostering a safe environment for those seeking refuge. The hours of the position are 1pm-9pm Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and advocacy for clients residing in the shelter.
- Assist clients in accessing necessary resources such as legal aid, healthcare, and counseling services.
- Conduct intake assessments to determine client needs and develop individualized service plans.
- Facilitate support groups and workshops to empower clients and promote healing.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress within the shelter program.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within the shelter for all residents.
Requirements
- Experience in behavioral health or social services is preferred.
- Strong crisis intervention skills to effectively support clients in distress.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse populations.
- Basic knowledge of first aid is beneficial but not required.
- Experience with childcare or family services is a plus.
