Job Summary: Substance Abuse Technician
Full-Time 3rd shift Sunday-Thursdays
Part-Time 3rd Shift Friday & Saturdays
Provides direct and indirect client care under the direction of the Program Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide for the personal care and comfort of A& D clients
- Provide a safe, clean environment
- Orient clients to the unit
- Perform and record vital signs for respite and residential rehab clients, notifies RN of any changes
- Monitor client's compliance with the program requirements/rules
- Continuously observe client's behavior, mental status and activities, notifies RN, director and/or counselor of any changes or unusual occurrences
- Demonstrate the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention
- Escort clients when leaving the unit for activities and scheduled tests
- Perform client safety checks at scheduled times, documents appropriately
- Responsible for observation for high-risk clients
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to the Director, RN's, and Counselors
- Demonstrate the ability to set limits for clients and other de-escalation techniques
- Documentation meets current standards and policies
- Treat clients and families with respect and dignity, provides emotional support
- Perform all aspects of client care in an environment that optimizes client safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
- Maintain appropriate levels of supplies for the unit
- Answer the telephone in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately, and takes messages
- Operate equipment safely and correctly
- Maintain a good working relationship within the department and with the other departments of the facility
- Demonstrate the ability to be organized and flexible, acts appropriately in stressful/emergency situations
- Uses two identifiers for each client served to ensure identification
- Performs other duties as assigned
Regulatory Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- One to two years related experience as A & D preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
Language Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
- Additional languages preferred
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills
