The Records Management Specialist III (RMS III) provides essential technical support for records and docket management functions across various information services. Working under the direction of a Records Information Manager, this role supports day-to-day operations within records programs, records centers, and automated systems, such as the Federal Docket Management System (FDMS). The RMS III plays a key part in maintaining data integrity, responding to information requests, and helping develop strategies to resolve records management challenges. This is a non-supervisory role, ideal for detail-oriented professionals with a solid foundation in records management and system-based data processing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the maintenance and organization of records, dockets, and information systems.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding records and document access.
- Perform data entry and metadata verification to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Retrieve and maintain collections in accordance with records management policies and schedules.
- Operate and troubleshoot automated information systems.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of records or docket management problems.
- Support program planning and implementation by contributing to process improvement efforts.
- Perform equipment checks and maintenance related to records operations.
- Ensure compliance with federal records regulations and organizational standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in records management or docket support.
- Proficiency in using at least one automated information system (e.g., FDMS).
- College degree is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of records and docket management procedures and best practices.
- Familiarity with federal records management regulations and standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Proficiency with standard office software and records-related technology.
