Position Overview:
The Controller will be a key leader in our financial operations, responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting strategic decision-making through timely, accurate financial reporting. This role demands a proactive leader with strong accounting expertise and a commitment to a high level of precision in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with GAAP or IFRS standards, ensuring both accuracy and timely delivery.
- Accounting Oversight: Oversee all accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Guide the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring performance and delivering insightful variance analysis.
- Internal Controls: Design and implement robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and minimize financial risk.
- Audit & Compliance: Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements; stay informed of evolving accounting regulations and industry best practices.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost management, operational improvements, and profitability enhancements.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support a team of accountants and finance professionals, cultivating a collaborative, high-performance, and people-focused culture.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow projections to maintain the company’s liquidity and operational stability.
- Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors within accounting functions.
- Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to senior management, contributing to informed decision-making and long-term planning.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (e.g., Controller, Accounting Manager).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with financial reporting tools is a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS standards, financial regulations, and tax laws; experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with a track record of identifying discrepancies and resolving financial issues effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, capable of solving complex financial problems and providing actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: CPA, CMA, or similar financial certification.
- Industry Experience: Experience in the automotive finance industry is a plus.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced financial modeling is advantageous.
