WH Material Handler

SUMMARY

Receives, stores, and distributes materials, and products within warehouse by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conveys materials and items from receiving to storage or to other designated areas.
• Sorts rotates and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
• Assembles customer and transfer orders from stock and conveys orders to shipping area for customer pick up or shipping to customer.
• Marks materials with identifying information. Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Performs a monthly inventory. Dates to be determined by Supervisor.
• Performs routine maintenance in building and on surrounding grounds. Sweeping, dusting, and taking out trash. Performs and/or assists in loading and unloading of company and vendor trucks.
• Operates forklift truck or other materials handling equipment for the purpose of moving products and materials within warehouse or in and out of vehicles.
• Informs management of any situation relevant to warehouse operations, inventory management or building maintenance.
• Uses computer to receive orders for processing.
• Prepares parcels for mailing and other forms of shipping.
• Recommends improvements in procedures, facilities and equipment to Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.
• Works with Supervisors to ensure warehouse hours of operation are covered. Available to work overtime if required to cover hours of operation.
• Responsible for the timely picking of orders according to the current schedule changes due to holidays and Plant close dates.
• Advanced knowledge of warehouse layout, product locations, and product recognition.
• Adhere to food safety objectives and work to uphold Cadillac Coffee’s food safety and quality system

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
