About the Role:
Café Bastille, Fort Lauderdale’s go-to for vibrant all-day brunch, is looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support our Kitchen Manager in running a smooth, high-energy kitchen. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring culinary excellence, operational consistency, and a strong team dynamic that keeps guests coming back.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Kitchen Manager in all kitchen operations and culinary execution
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of all brunch menu items
- Produce high-quality dishes consistently in both taste and appearance
- Step in to lead and direct the kitchen team when the KM is off or unavailable
- Help train, coach, and motivate BOH staff; contribute to scheduling and performance reviews
- Ensure kitchen stations are well-stocked, prepped, and running efficiently
- Monitor inventory and assist in ordering to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Uphold health and safety regulations and ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed
- Foster a collaborative, positive work environment
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant
- Excellent leadership and kitchen management skills
- Strong understanding of brunch-focused cuisine and contemporary presentation
- Ability to multitask and problem-solve under pressure
- Knowledge of kitchen systems, POS, and Microsoft Office
- Culinary degree or certification is a plus, but not required
