Job Summary
CAIR Washington is looking to hire a part-time Digital Specialist. The Digital Specialist’s primary role will be managing digital media, including social media, websites, and mass emails. The ideal candidate will have strong written communication, basic design skills and experience in social media management or customer relations management (CRM) software. We are looking for a highly organized individual who can meet deadlines and effectively manage their work while communicating openly with their supervisor. Position reports to the Communications Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and grow CAIR Washington social media accounts and presence
- Create and carry out editorial (content) calendar
- Design social media campaigns and generate content, including basic graphic design for posts, interviewing and communicating with CAIR-WA staff about their work, and writing captions
- Track success of social media and email marketing campaigns, use insights to inform future campaigns
- Monitor news and online trends
- Plan, create content for, and design monthly newsletter
- Update websites as needed, including making blog posts (no web development background required)
- Track media mentions
- Cover events for social media
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with BIPOC communities and a commitment to racial equity and combatting anti-Muslim sentiments in Washington
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Foundational understanding of graphic design and visual elements
- Experience managing various social media platforms for an organization or brand
- Basic video editing skills
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills
- Self-motivated, seeks out new projects and takes initiative
- Must be able to work well both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- On occasion, CAIR-WA encounters crisis situations that need fast turnaround on communications. The Digital Specialist must be able to be responsive and create and send posts or emails on short timelines, including on evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the Washington nonprofit and media landscapes
- Understanding of the unique challenges that BAMEMSA organizations face when communicating online
- Experience in email marketing and/or CRM software
- Experience with Meta Business Suite
- Experience in website content management software, such as Squarespace, Wordpress, Weebly, or Shopify
- Basic photography
Compensation:
$25/hour, 20 hours per week, subject to change
Schedule Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt Employee
Schedule: Flexible, with occasional evening and weekend work
Location: Hybrid position with remote work and in-person work (CAIR Washington is located in Downtown Seattle)
