The Deep Foundations PM/Estimator is accountable for the preparation of deep foundations construction cost estimates and the overall management of the projects. The candidate will be responsible for the preparation of proposals including cost, technical and commercial responses. The PM/Estimator will provide analysis of project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates (labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors) for upcoming projects. The candidate will participate in post-bid Q&A and contract negotiations for award of project work. The candidate will plan, direct, and coordinate management activities of the assigned project to ensure safety, schedule, and profitability goals are met. The PM/Estimator will manage day-to-day work on the project during construction phases by coordinating with the project team and making recommendations regarding status of work. The candidate will champion and lead the safety, quality, and execution programs through active leadership and participation.
The ideal candidate in this position possesses a detailed understanding of deep foundation / geotechnical construction (Driven Pile, Sheet Pile, Auger Cast-In-Place, Drilled Shaft, Helical Pile, Drilled Displacement Pile, etc.) projects.
Responsibilities

Conduct a pre-job checklist that will define scope of work
Prepare technical and commercial approach to proposal cost
Ensure contract T&Cs are reviewed by appropriate counsel for exceptions or comments
Perform quantity take-off and price take-off
Prepare and understand bid schedules, as well as review bids from subcontractors and vendors for conformity to contract requirements to determine acceptable bids
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Review material and labor requirements, equipment and production costs, performance requirements, and project schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy
Provide monthly financial projections of the status of the project and review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required
Award and administer subcontracts, including final approval of payment
Advise superintendents and construction manager of contractual rights and obligations
Act as liaison between company, client and subcontractors
Aggressive collection through invoicing on time, pursuing payment within terms of contract, and using best judgement with schedule of values
Coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies when applicable
Assist other workers as needed
Qualifications
*The below are qualifications that would fit the “ideal” candidate. Not all of these are required but are preferred.
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical), or related experience.
Proficient in Excel, Viewpoint Construction Software, Pvault, and P6 Primavera
Minimum 3 years of relevant deep foundations / geotechnical construction experience.
The ability to focus on details, and has the ability to work well within a deadline driven environment
Strong organization, planning and time management skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities as well as multiple personality types
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Technical skills related to the management of deep foundation / geotechnical construction (Driven Pile, Sheet Pile, Auger Cast-In-Place, Drilled Shaft, Helical Pile, Drilled Displacement Pile, etc.) projects.
