Definition and Purpose
Under the supervision of the Coordinator I - Audio Visual, the student manager for Audio Visual is responsible for managing the Audio Visual Technicians and Student Assistants. This position supervises a staff of 15 to 20 and works closely with the University Union leadership team. This position requires effective communication with staff and participants regarding programs, services, policies, and emergency response. The Student Manager - Audio Visual works closely with ASI Event Operations and ASI Event Logistics to help coordinate hosting events in ASI's facilities. A background in Audio Visual is not necessary for this position, but it is beneficial.
In order to maximize the student manager's personal development and ensure that their experience with ASI is broad based, incumbents will be assigned additional responsibilities beyond their specific program or staff area.

Requirements
Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 units.
- Exhibit a developed sense of critical thinking, conflict management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to stay focused while working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others or independently, as the situation requires.
- Ability to empathize and connect with others in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to handle confidential information according to ASI policies and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Confidence to take risks and explore new ideas.
- Display a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience in developing and conducting assessments, reporting, and analyzing results.
- Confidence to supervise peers.
- Knowledge of Windows based computer systems (Microsoft Office).
- Awareness of safety and risk-management procedures.
- Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds, specific needs, or limitations.

Period of Employment
If hired, student managers must commit to a minimum of 9 weeks of employment over summer quarter. Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.
Compensation And Hours
Requires a minimum of three consecutive quarters of availability
Requires summer 2025 availability
May require late nights, weekends, and holiday availability
