Position Description
Metropolitan's Water Quality Section, Chemistry Unit, and Chemistry Compliance Team has one (1) opening. This position will require a time commitment of approximately 12-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, preferably, in four-hour blocks of time or more. For the summer months, up to 40 hours / week may be arranged.
Duties
Under the guidance of professional chemists on the Chemistry Compliance Team, the selected Co-Op intern will provide technical support in the chemistry compliance laboratory. The intern will assist with sample preparation, water quality testing, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data entry and recordkeeping, and general laboratory housekeeping.
Required Skills and / or Coursework
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited four-year degree program in Chemistry, Biology, or other Science related majors. A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better in relevant major coursework (i.e., chemistry, mathematics, physics, etc.) is required. Sophomore or junior status with approximately two years remaining before graduation is required.
