ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Manager, the Assistant Manager assists the Manager to effectively and efficiently manage the operation(s) assigned as directed by the Manager. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below and will vary based upon a variety of factors including business necessity, location, and customer requests. Will be required to work evenings and weekends.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Responsible for the financial performance of the area(s) assigned.
- Assists the Manager in Forecasting monthly financial activity.
- Responsible for inventory of products and supplies sufficient to meet forecast demand with minimal or no waste.
- Responsible for ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for forecast demand within budget.
- Ensures compliance with established laws and regulations within their assigned area.
- Ensures continued adherence to all Foundation standards and procedures within their assigned area
- Accountable for appropriate ordering, receiving, inventory, and storage of food and supplies
- Responsible for the effective training and coaching of crew members.
- Ensures assigned area is ready for service and maintained at the highest quality throughout service.
- Ensures compliance with cash and credit card policies and procedures in all area(s) assigned.
- Resolves equipment, maintenance, and facility issues quickly and effectively.
- Required to operate company vehicles to transport food, staff, and guests.
- Responsible for ensuring work schedules are communicated appropriately and time is recorded per Foundation’s standards.
- Required to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and other departments with professionalism and respect.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- May (on occasion) prepare a variety of food and beverages, receive and store inventory, move and lift supplies and prepare meals for customers.
- Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule.
SUPERVISION: Responsible for the training and evaluation of staff necessary to carry out effective operations of the assigned area; directly supervises full time and student staff; directly supervises the activities of contracted staff providing services that may include custodial, staffing services, landscaping, trash collection, pest control, repairs and other facility services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vocational certificate in culinary arts or management and a minimum of three years supervisory experience in a high-volume foodservice operation; or a minimum of five years relevant experience
- Valid CA driver’s license and insurance.
- Servsafe Manager’s or equivalent certification
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
- Ability to be resourceful and to take initiative.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-ethnic environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules; open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.
- Strong writing skills.
PREFERRED:
- Three years of successful supervisory experience in a college or university food service operations.
