ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented temporary part-time exhibition Space Designer to develop and implement an engaging exhibition space for our college at the LA County Fair in May 2025. This role is crucial in ensuring an appealing and functional layout that effectively represents the college and attracts visitors.
Since 2022, the Huntley College of Agriculture has supported the annual LA County Fair with exhibits that showcase the programs and work of the Huntley College of Agriculture. While the exhibits have been very well received, we believe it is time to elevate guest experiences by creating professionally designed spaces that better promote the College and University.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop the layout and visual presentation of the college's exhibition space.
- Create an integrated theme for physical and digital displays that connect the varied aspects of Huntley College, visually and experientially.
- Ensure the exhibition space aligns with CPP branding and messaging guidelines.
- Coordinate with the college organizing team and department faculty liaisons regarding objectives, space requirements, and fabrication and procurement logistics.
- Work closely with the organizing team, staff coordinators, and student workers to realize plans, and to install and breakdown the exhibition before and after the event.
- Provide periodic oversight throughout the Fair to troubleshoot and adjust display elements as needed to ensure exhibits remain attractive and functional.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong design and spatial planning skills.
- Previous experience in event or exhibition design.
- Excellent attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong project management skills to meet critical deadlines.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by the fair schedule.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with college or university exhibitions.
- Background in graphic design, interior design, or event planning.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
- Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time, Flexible
- Duration: March 17th – May 30th
- Hours: 150 hours total:
- 15 hours per week (except May 12th – May 26th @ 10 hours per week)
- Location: CPP Campus and LA County Fairgrounds
- Compensation: $30/hour
