Position Description
The selected applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and experience in areas primarily related to civil engineering and construction management. A student engineer will assist Technical Services personnel with various CalFire infrastructure projects typically related to construction and maintenance. The student engineer will assist in field surveys, creation of plan sets, project design, calculations, and other engineer related functions.
Duties
Assist in record keeping services, data entry and tracking of building inventory and real property assets.
Create graphs, maps and figures on computers using graphics and AutoCAD. Assist in layout and paste up of materials for printing. Work with printers to create a final product. Collect, analyze, ad process technical data into various computer programs. Use word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer programs to assist staff with engineering duties and projects. Use spreadsheets and statistical programs to enter and analyze data.
Support permanent staff with field work including construction staking and topographic surveying.
Required Skills and/or Coursework
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited four-year degree program in Civil Engineering with a minimum overall GPA of 2.50.
The qualified candidate will have completed some general and/or advanced Civil Engineering and/or Chemical Engineering courses.
