Qualifications are as follows: Must have a high school diploma or GED from a state accredited institution; must have a valid drivers license; and be able to operate a computer terminal and radio equipment, must be able to work in stressful environment on various shifts. All applicants must pass a background check. Salary is $15.90 hourly starting. Calhoun County is an EOE.
Communications officers are responsible for handling all radio traffic of deputy sheriffs, logging information into computer systems, answering multiple telephone lines, and speaking with the public. Dispatchers must be able to read, write, and use a computer. They enter warrants and other information into local, state, and federal databases. A positive attitude and good customer service is a must.
