What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Laboratory Services position at Calhoun Liberty Hospital Association, Inc?
The Director of Laboratory Services has responsibility for the overall direction, supervision, instruction and evaluation of the staff within the Laboratory department. The Director may be required to perform quality assurance, calibrate equipment, as well as routine maintenance on equipment within the department in accordance with recognized safety standards. The Director will perform departmental and clerical duties as necessary. Demonstrates age-specific competencies in the care of the spectrum of patient populations. Adheres to Calhoun Liberty Hospital rules and regulations to all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Performs specific duties and skills as defined in competency assessments.
DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES
- Direct and supervise laboratory operations
- Administer CLH policies regarding staffing, scheduling and practice operations
- Knowledge clinical laboratory services.
- Listens carefully and communicates in a clear, specific manner
- Treats patients, visitors and staff with care, courtesy, respect and concern
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.

REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of accredited school of Medical Technology
- State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license in good standing
- Three years’ laboratory supervision experience in a hospital setting
- BLS certification (AHA/AHSI Can be within 6 months of employment)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical decision making skills
- Must be able to speak, read and write the English language

Located in Blountstown, Florida, CLH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that includes a 10-bed Critical Access Hospital; Calhoun-Liberty Primary Care (RHC) and Calhoun County EMS (911 on-the scene care, emergency transportation an extended transportation needs). CLH is currently constructing a new $40 million state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot facility set to open Summer 2025.
