Key ResponsibilitiesDispatch Operations
- Ensure efficient and timely dispatch operations, utilizing technology and dispatch software.
- Communicate with drivers for routine business needs and emergency assistance.
- Oversee appointment scheduling, delivery notifications, and driver paperwork compliance.
- Manage yard operations, ensuring organization, equipment reconciliation, and regulatory compliance.
- Minimize costs through load optimization, scheduling efficiency, and reduction of storage fees and empty miles.
- Monitor driver hours of service to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Work cross-functionally with driver support, customer service, and operations teams to maintain seamless logistics.
Customer Service
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, providing timely updates and issue resolution.
- Coordinate container deliveries, equipment releases, and shipment status updates.
- Proactively notify customers of schedule changes and service exceptions.
- Monitor billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Uphold company safety values in all customer interactions.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and coach team members to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Represent dispatch and customer service in management meetings.
- Proactively communicate with internal teams to address service exceptions and identify improvement opportunities.
Safety & Compliance
- Oversee and delegate safety tasks, ensuring driver compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor safety performance metrics, including log violations and driver behavior.
- Stay up to date on DOT regulations, pre-trip inspections, and hazardous materials handling to provide guidance to drivers.
General Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain proficiency in dispatch systems, software, and processes.
- Adhere to Calhoun’s values of safety, communication, teamwork, commitment, and accountability.
- Maintain good attendance and serve as a positive example for team members.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in dispatch or customer service preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dispatching software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermodal drayage experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.50 - $26.44 per hour
