Job Overview

Caliber 1 Construction Inc. is searching for a dynamic Vice President of Construction to lead our project management, strategic planning, and operational excellence. This role is critical to driving company profitability, managing high-performing teams, and ensuring the seamless execution of construction projects. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Construction will oversee business development, compliance, and project execution while fostering client and industry relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Strategic Planning
  • Actively pursue and develop new business opportunities to drive company growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with developers, community leaders, and industry partners.
  • Oversee lead generation efforts and ensure project opportunities align with company goals.
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Direct and mentor project managers, field superintendents, and construction teams.
  • Conduct weekly departmental meetings to enhance communication and team collaboration.
  • Oversee training programs for staff development and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Project Execution & Operational Excellence
  • Supervise project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution to ensure on-time, high-quality results.
  • Regularly review project proposals, daily field reports, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between project managers, field teams, and subcontractors.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations
  • Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication and service excellence.
  • Develop strategic initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and project success.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and project adjustments with professionalism.
  • Financial & Compliance Oversight
  • Assist the COO in monitoring profit margins, expenses, and budget forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality control, and industry standards.
  • Uphold company policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining a high standard of integrity.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum five years in senior-level construction management, with expertise in project planning and execution.
  • Licensing: Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid Driver's License.
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction processes, and safety standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore (or similar project management software), Sage (or similar cost management software), Microsoft Project (or similar scheduling software), and Adobe/Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret contracts, and oversee financial performance.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and team-building abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience in client presentations.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical & Mental Demands
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, and lift as required on job sites.
  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and construction environments.
