Description
The Supply Chain Manager is accountable for managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain process, with direct responsibility for production planning / scheduling, materials sourcing and procurement; resulting in reduced costs and improved inventory turns. The role involves collaborating with vendors, manufacturers, and internal departments to ensure seamless operations and improve overall supply chain performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Manage staffing levels, and coordinate recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff in the department, plus cross-training and further skills development for current staff.
Mentor and provide constructive and timely performance evaluations of direct reports; foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and collaboration.
Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Motivate, support, and set clear expectations for staff in the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Create and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Develop and coordinate production planning through collaboration with appropriate departments / functions to ensure product availability while minimizing inventory on-hand.
Establish and manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services
Evaluate supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.
Analyze supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement.
Conduct audits and assessments of suppliers to ensure compliance with company standards as required.
Implement inventory control systems and practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to drive decision-making and planned execution.
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline supply chain operations and reduce operational costs.
Collaborate with sales, production, and finance teams to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with business objectives.
Communicate supply chain issues and updates to department leaders and provide solutions to address challenges.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to supply chain operations.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address supply chain disruptions.
Assist department and company leadership on special assignments and projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field / experience (required); a professional certification is a plus.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in supply chain management in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of success (required).
Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficient in supply chain management software and tools.
Willingness to travel to supplier sites, warehouses, and / or distribution centers as needed.
