The HR Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, payroll, and retention efforts for 300-400 employees across all operational departments, both full time and seasonal.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the recruiting, hiring and onboarding process for all seasonal and full-time team members: post job openings, review job descriptions with department managers, review and screen applications for hiring managers, interview candidates and process new hire and rehire paperwork.
  • Bi weekly payroll sign off, assist with ensuring all time is entered and team members are paid correctly.
  • Oversee uniform distribution, inventory, ordering, cleaning.
  • Hire all employees and ensure that all pre-employment onboarding paperwork is completed including handbooks, tax forms, agreements, background screening. Ensure that all employees are providing appropriate documents for completion of I-9 forms and that the appropriate minor work forms are completed in accordance with the State of California requirements.
  • Lead the park’s orientation/ training programs and create new content for employee handbooks and trainings as appropriate.
  • Participate in local and regional job fairs at the high school, college, and professional level. Creatively identify opportunities for new sources of applicants and hard-to-fill positions.
  • Plan and execute team member events focusing on inclusion, accessibility, and creating a fun atmosphere to improve morale and retention rates while staying within budgetary guidelines.
  • Complete regular reporting on staffing levels versus budget and prior years by department and employee type.
  • Ensure all company human resources policies and procedures are implemented and evenly enforced; reviews and communicates adherence to all labor laws.
  • Report to General Manager any feedback of seasonal or full-time employees to improve processes, job satisfaction and/or guest satisfaction efforts.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Languages:

  • English Language Proficiency.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in HR Management, Leadership, Training & Development are preferred.

Education & Training:

  • College degree in HR, Business Management or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience in employment law and management is preferred, especially relating to minors/child labor.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule during operating season which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift, carry, or otherwise move and position items and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds as well as standing, walking, crouching, bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, lifting, and pushing. Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors in varying climates.
