JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for facilitating project activities in support of the Project Manager (PM). The PE will assist in processes that ensure all safety, quality, architectural, engineering and scheduling requirements are achieved, monitored, documented, and reported.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reads contract requirements and has a thorough understanding of project scope
- Collaborates with project staff to create a strategic action plan and cost estimates of materials, time, labor, and other resources required to complete the project
- Responsible for assigned Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), including but not limited to, submittals, shop drawings, procurement, SCO’s, OCO’s, PO’s, document controls for and including plans, plan updates, specifications, ASI’s, SK drawings, RFIs, RFCs, schedule updates, as-built drawings, supplemental drawing mark-ups, close-out requirements and others, as assigned
- Assists in the management of the project schedule and ensures sufficient support and resources are provided by all subcontractors as required to meet or exceed the schedule
- Assists with obtaining bids from bid documents and solicits vendors and subcontractors by specifying material; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices
- Oversees Quality Control by managing the submittal review process which requires understanding products and materials specified for the project and determining if the submittals are compliant with the project plans and specifications.
- Ensures that all project delays are well documented and that project stakeholders are provided with frequent, regularly scheduled written documentation in a timely manner
- Develops or assists in the development of all contractual claims to the Owner
- Clearly and consistently communicates with all project team members, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Assists in the Enforcement of the Subcontract Agreement and notifies subcontractors of all performance, safety, or quality deficiencies in writing
- Assists with and ensures timely issuance of the initial project budgets to accounting and ensures budget management activities are provided to project stakeholders as required
- Aides in the completion of monthly project reporting requirements, including but not limited to, MSR Reports, WIP updates and others, as required
- Ensures that all pending OCO’s, SCO’s or other financial items that have ability to impact current monthly project financial projections are closed promptly
- Other duties, as assigned
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Four-year degree in Construction Management or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience
- Intermediate knowledge of software applications (MS Office/Procore/Bluebeam/Vista), and others
- Basic understanding of construction industry terminology and documents with the ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to develop, maintain, and enhance all project stakeholder relationships with the Company
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, efficient, and reliable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player with the ability to recognize how individual actions affect the team as a whole
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week or more as may be required
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted
- May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout workday
- Willing to travel to various job site and/or employee recruitment and work locations
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability as required by the company when job duties require use of motor vehicle
- Requires exercising of discretion in decision making process and maintaining of strict confidentiality with respect to applicant, employee, and company proprietary related information
