What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aviation Resources Manager position at CALIFORNIA AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY?
SUMMARY: The Aviation Resources Manager will assist with managing the administrative activities of the ground, flight, and maintenance departments. The Aviation Resources manager is directly responsible for managing the dispatch desk, ground operations, and the management and coordination of aircraft, including proper utilization and efficient operations. The Aviation Resources Manager is also responsible for a wide variety of administrative and office activities. They participate in the organization and completion of special projects and events as well as day-to-day activities.
SUPERVISION:
- Oversee all duties of the Dispatch department.
- Manage 2 to 5 direct reports.
- Conduct interviews, hires, trainings and terminations.
- Manage and ensure Dispatch employees’ performance standards.
- Ensure through proper monitoring and communication Dispatch employees adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure Dispatch employees’ performance reviews and disciplinary actions are completed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Conduct all duties and responsibilities ethically and professionally
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in education.
- Conduct all duties and responsibilities to achieve a win-win situation for students and the University
- Answer general questions from students/customers
- Assist with the identification and develop standard operating procedures and policies
- Coordinate with maintenance to schedule and schedule maintenance, and unscheduled work/discrepancies
- Coordinate with maintenance on the completion of the aircraft so they can be returned to service
- Coordinate the flight schedule and resource availability
- Evaluate and manage aircraft resources to ensure efficient aircraft utilization
- Assists with “day of” scheduling changes as well as managing “stand-by fly list” for CAU students
- Assists with day-to-day duties of Dispatch desk and Aviation Resources department
- PSI Proctoring (must pass a 5 yr Felon Background check)
- Assists with student communication via email
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Experience in customer service in aviation is preferred. Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, or six months to one-year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to interact in a pleasant and professional manner with all types of people. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, set and meet deadlines and manage unexpected situations. Strong technology skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business communications, financial reports, legal documents, and some government reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from students, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to students, top management, and/or public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
