Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Warden (CDW), this position provides administrative support, staff assistance and secretarial support services on institutional departmental matters regarding a variety of highly sensitive and complex issues. The majority of duties are carried out independently, utilizing a high level of initiative and sound decision-making skills.

Acts as a liaison between the CDW and executive and institutional staff regarding highly sensitive departmental issues including adverse actions, labor relations, incidents, and confidential administrative matters. Develops and/or presents management's positions with respect to employer-employee relations and requires access to confidential information contributing to the development of management positions. Provides independent analytical determination as to what requires direct and/or immediate attention from the CDW. Transcribes correspondence and documents on a variety of highly sensitive and confidential issues. Responds to, screens, and/or redirects correspondence and telephone calls from Headquarters, legislators, the public, departmental administrators, other institutions and community agencies relating to institution operations. Reviews documents and correspondence by institution staff for completeness, format, accuracy, and composition.

This is a Correctional Institution open 24 hours/7days a week, all positions will be office centered.

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. **Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
