Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, and the direction of the Painter III, this position requires the Painter II to supervise a crew of 2 - 10 incarcerated individuals in scraping, sanding and filling in surfaces in preparation for painting and finishing. Applies undercoats, finish coats, by rolling, with brush and by spray machine; mix and match paints and finishes; clean and maintain brushes and other equipment. Paint simple designs, estimate cost of painting jobs; orders materials, follows proper safety procedures for handling and storage of paint and thinners. Keeps records and makes reports, instructs and leads unskilled workers. Maintain security, leading and supervising incarcerated individuals, prevents escapes and injury by those persons to themselves and others or to property. Maintains the security to working areas and work materials, inspects premises and searches incarcerated individuals for contraband.
Maintains order and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections. Prevents escapes and injury by these persons to themselves or other or to state property, Inspects premises and searches for contraband.
Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
