MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Safe transportation for all students to and from school and school activity trips; • Is responsible for keeping vehicle clean; • Must keep mileage and attendance records up to date and turn those records into the Transportation Supervisor at the end of each month; • Is responsible for informing mechanics of any defects on the vehicle, and arrange to have work done on the vehicle; • Must watch mileage and/or expiration dates in order for the mechanics to keep up proper servicing and safety checks on the vehicle; • Is required to checkout vehicle daily; • Is responsible for keeping fuel in the vehicle; • Must be responsible in letting proper personnel know of any changes or deviations; • Must participate in vehicle safety training; • Must be able to maintain an orderly and well disciplined route; • Must be able to keep lines of communications open between teachers and appropriate personnel concerning inappropriate vehicle behavior, and work effectively with them to correct vehicle behavior problems; • Physical ability to assist others to lift and carry a handicapped child weighing up to 80 pounds; to position a student in a wheelchair who may weight up to 200 pounds or more; and to maneuver and tie down wheelchairs and orthopedic devices.
