What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substitute Teacher position at California Department of Education?
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Teaches subjects utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. 2.Instructs pupils in basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in State law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. 3.Develops a balanced program involving factual background material, discussion time, and other appropriate activities designed to encourage pupils to develop skills and attitudes,draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make value judgments based on accepted methods of inquiry. 4.Provides diversified instructional approach using instructional strategies with assistance of pupils. 5.Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the school, the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. 6.Participates cooperatively with the principal or his designee to mutually develop the system by which he will be evaluated in conformance with the district's uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment. 7.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and group instruction as appropriate in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. 8.Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 9.Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports as required, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress. 10.Identifies pupil needs and works closely with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 11.Performs basic attendance accounting and classroom clerical tasks as required. 12.Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records. 13.Insures a comfortable physical room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible. 14.Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities on an equitable basis during the assigned working day. 15.Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program. 16.Plans, coordinate, and evaluates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals as appropriate.
