Responsibilities:
- Serves as the Substance and Addiction Prevention Branch Chief and manages, supervises, oversees, and directs scientific, professional, and technical staff in planning, implementing, and monitoring substance use/misuse, overdose, and addition prevention programs.
- Provides organizational and statewide leadership for policy, systems and environmental change approaches that aim to minimize negative health, social and legal impacts associated with substance misuse and addiction.
- Directs policy for emerging issues related to alcohol, cannabis, opioids, and other drugs, and resolves sensitive and complex program administrative and fiscal related issues.
- Oversees responsibility for administration, statewide health education programs and media campaigns, the gambling disorder treatment program, research, surveillance, and evaluation activities.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working with multiple levels of staff including executive management, fast paced environment with experience in handling multiple competing priorities and shifting expectations.
- Experience managing and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven management skills, with emphasis on establishing goals and objectives, proven ability to track and achieve measurable results.
- Ability to think strategically and assess issues quickly to identify the best possible solution.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience communicating effectively with other leaders, managers, and staff in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of health equity and social determinants of health.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
