Under the general direction of the Research Data Manager, Research and Statistics Section, of the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration's (CDTFA) Financial Management Division, the Research Data Specialist II helps analyze existing tax program datasets, identify tax policy insights, and present recommendations to key stakeholders. This position serves in a lead capacity to Research Data Specialist I positions performing various analytical studies and statistical work. Chief among these tasks is estimating the revenue impacts of proposed legislation, regulations, and management and executive requests pertaining to taxes administered by the CDTFA. The Research Data Specialist II also works independently and serves as one of the section’s statistical experts regarding business tax policy issues, prepares statistical analysis for external publications and scheduled report, and estimates tax revenue and sales tax reimbursements to the CDTFA for preparation of the department's budget.
