What are the responsibilities and job description for the AIR POLLUTION SPECIALIST position at California Energy Commission?
Under the general supervision of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Air Pollution Specialist (APS) will be responsible for promoting environmental justice and equity policies for zero-emission vehicle technologies through community benefits quantification and the development of equitable projects (including projects that benefit low-income, disadvantaged, or historically underserved communities). This position will support the California Energy Commission’s work to ensure equity is embedded in the Clean Transportation Program investments and policies. This position will track and evaluate key outcomes and metrics associated with Clean Transportation Program projects, particularly as it relates to assessing equitable outcomes. This position will be responsible for developing strategies to educate staff and promote and embed equity in solicitations, reports, and other Clean Transportation Program products. In an effort to further increase access to zero-emission vehicles and to increase awareness of CEC's ZEV equity actions, this position will involve collaboration with multiple entities, including: community-based organizations; nonprofit organizations; environmental justice and equity organizations; California Native American tribes; low-income residents; underserved and justice communities; federal, state, regional, and local agencies; and other CEC staff, management, and executive leadership teams.

Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
