The California Energy Commission seeks a Legal Secretary in the Chief Counsel’s Office. Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent will perform the full range of legal secretarial duties. The Legal Secretary must possess the skills, knowledge, and have the ability to adapt to workload, assignment changes, and work under pressure while meeting all deadlines.

The Legal Secretary represents the Chief Counsel’s Office in a professional manner and has extensive contacts with all levels of staff within the Chief Counsel’s Office, as well as with various levels of personnel within and outside the Commission. The incumbent will primarily perform legal secretarial duties to support the Chief Counsel.

Working Conditions

This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in-person at least two days per week. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees may be required to work in-person at least four days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance.

Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be relocated to California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date.

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

The CEC was established by the Legislature in 1974 to address energy challenges facing the state. Today, the CEC is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency and is leading the state to a 100% clean energy future. The California Energy Commission seeks a Legal Secretary in the Chief Counsel’s Office.
